It's soon going to be that time, music festival season... and many times, at the camping festivals, you'll find yourself camping near your car. This benefit allows you to securely lock away your valuables, and many times, create a really neat camp site. Try blocking one side of your shade tent with a van for example, it makes a nice privacy wall and allows you to still get inside the van through the side door while under the shade tent. Here's a bunch of things you can bring to create the most epic car camping setup at Backwoods this year:

  1. Rug

  2. Tarp

  3. Standup Mirror

  4. Shade Tent or Shade Cover for Tent

  5. Fold Up Tables and Chairs

  6. Battery Operated Lanterns (Decorative too!)

  7. Blanket/Scarf (You'll want one that is fashionable, but also large enough to sit on as a blanket!)

  8. Oranges, PB&J, Trail Mix, Water, Capri Suns, Go-gart, Coconut Water, Applesauce, and other awesome taste goods

  9. Bug Spray and Citronella Candels

  10. Trash Bags

  11. Hammock (This is to bring into the festival with you and relax in the shaded Nirvana Woodlands!)

  12. Small Battery Powered Speaker

  13. Shovel and Bucket

  14. Several Gallons of Water Jugs (For fire bucket, drinking, and rinsing things!)

  15. A plant to spruce up your awesome hang out area.

It's important to know there will be NO tickets for Backwoods Music Festival sold at the gates this year. In years passed, we previously sold tickets at the gates. We're moving to RFID collectable wristbands this year for better experiences at the festival entrances, campsites, and music venues. These RFID wristbands must be registered to an individual for security purposes and will happen prior to the festival. The only way this can be done is by purchasing a your ticket ahead of the festival so we can ship your personal RFID wristband to you at home. There are only 10,000 allotted tickets for sale this year, and the festival is expected to sell out many weeks before the actual festival date. Be sure to order your tickets ONLINE as soon as you can to save on ticket prices, and SPREAD THE WORD to others! We want to make sure everyone has their chance to attend! No Gate Sales, RFID Wristbands

How to Build a Rage Stick - Rage Stick Wars

Can’t find your friends or have cell service? Circling around campsites that appear similar to the one you thought you set up? Nobody else could have cleverly thought to purchase a brightly colored tent to stand out amongst the trees. And yet, all you see is the color orange.Maybe it truly is the new black. But alas! In a *hand-to-forehead* moment you scan just above the sea of nylon searching for the witty (or at least you think so) rage stick you and your fellow campers crafted.Huzzah! There’s Crazy Eyes!In recent years fashioning rage sticks has become quite the frenzy among music festival goers in order to easily meet up with scattered friends. Here are some things to think about when it comes to building your rage stick:

  1. Creativity - Be creative!  The rage stick loses its usefulness if there is another just like it floating high above the crowd.
  2. Faces - Giant faces are not just for sporting events. Just ask the group who brought the second Danny Ocean…. Apparently George Clooney was all the rage (pun totally intended) at Summer Camp last year.
  3. Height - Build them tall enough not to obstruct others’ views.
  4. Light - Keep in mind a rage stick should be light enough for each member of the group to at least hold up in a crowd, not necessarily carry from the campsite to aforementioned crowd.
  5. Power - Your rage stick can be battery operated. So maybe try your hands at adding a neon sign from your favorite neighborhood bar—not that we’re condoning stealing!
  6. Wind - Last thing to consider is the wind factor. The more surface area at the top of the stick, the more susceptible it is to blowing over.

How to Hula-Hoop

Is hula-hooping like riding a bike? We suppose you’ll provide us the answer seeing as it’s most likely something you haven’t done in years. Riding a bike, however, you probably did yesterday.Let’s recap proper technique:

  1. Step into the middle of the hoop.
  2. Pull up the hoop to around the waist.
  3. Then, spin the hoop while moving the hips in a back and forth motion.

Below is a very good example of what to do:

This kid…not so much:Hula Fail Now you have the basics down, try it.

Top 10 Foods to Pack When Traveling to a Music Festival

Vendor food isn’t doing it for you anymore? Trying to save money for merch? Or do you just not feel like leaving the comforts of your campground?Alas, you remember the stash of food buried under dirty clothes in the corner of the once-clean tent. Somewhere beneath the sweat-soaked T-shirts is a cooler that some how managed to keep a few things cold.

  1. Burger patties – Freeze the patties before packing them into a cooler. Not only will they thaw in time for a Day 2 dinner, but will keep other items in the cooler chilled. The same can be done with hotdogs or chicken.
  2. Peanut Butter and Jelly –  Be it bread, crackers, apples, ect., peanut butter can be consumed several different ways and won’t go bad. Jelly, likewise, does not have to be refrigerated.
  3. Trail Mix – Easy to travel with and contains quite a bit of protein, nutrients and sugar to tied a hangry music lover over between meals.
  4. Chips – Because someone might get too intoxicated one night and will need the greasy substance to soak up the alcohol. Chips and salsa also make for a great non-perishable snack.
  5. Fruit – Apples, bananas, oranges etc. can replenish lost nutrients throughout the event.
  6. Ramen Noodles – Bring you back to the college days, or maybe you’re still there.
  7. Jerky – Toughest thing about keeping this available is keeping other campers away from your stash.
  8. Bagels – Carbo load in the morning for a long day of standing, concert going, and maybe a tad bit of drinking.
  9. S’mores fixings – S’mores are figuratively the best part of camping, bring them to the community fires.
  10.  Water – Technically it’s a drink rather than a food, but it’s just that important.
